Evaluation Report of InjePro Multimedia Teaching Software (Chemical Engineering College, Beijing University)

Overall View of the Software:

  • The use of InjePro in the curriculum of " Plastic Injection Molding Technology" was approved by teachers and students, specially because it was favorably received by students, for what this kind of teaching means.
  • Because InjePro Multimedia Teaching Software has the animation, image, voice and video functions,  it is very helpful for students to understand the contents that they are learning.
  • Because the student doesn't need to have high level computer knowledge when they use  InjePro ,  it is very easy for the normal student in the university to master the method of use.
  • InjePro  basically covered the main important contents for the Plastic Injection Molding Technology. For the student in the university, we suggest that the depth of content should be strengthened further.
  • We think that InjePro Multimedia Teaching Software can be extended to the high occupation education and the skilled workers' trainings if the practical operational part is strengthened.
  • InjePro Multimedia Teaching Software is favorable for flexible teaching because the students can decide the learning plan for themselves, according to their understanding of the content.

Content of the Software:

  • The teaching content of InjePro  basically covered the main contents on Plastic Injection Molding: from polymer raw material, injection molds, molding machinery, technology parameters and etc. It  basically satisfied our requirements for the general teaching.
  • The teaching content is comparatively rich and has some examples that are easy to understand, so that the student feel relaxed during the learning procedure.
  • Because InjePro Multimedia Teaching Software is in the English language and we don't have assisting text material, some contents are difficult to understand for the Chinese student, so that the professional teacher must help them for this. As a result, the student may not master the knowledge stably.
  • About the present content, the study speed arranged by the software is suitable. It is also desirable requiring the student to reach the score 80 for each testing section, as InjePro does. But due to the item above (software is in the English language), most students could not pass at one time, and repeated more times.
  • For the university education, we think that the theoretical content should be deepened, specially on the mold design, mechanical working principle and the parameter's choosing. For the high occupation technology education, we suggest that the content of practical operation should be strengthened.

Operation Performance of the Software:

  • The software just requires the operator to have the basic computer application knowledge. The user guide in the manual is very clear. So, it is very ease for the student to master the operation method of the software.
  • The menu structure of the software is very convenient for the student to choose the content that they wanted to learn.
  • The evaluation system is good. It can feedback the study situation to the teacher and the student effectively. The teacher can adjust the study pace and guide the student according to the feedback information.
  • Some assistance functions and operational functions of the software can be optimized.
  • Because the software is not localized in Chinese, the student could master limited professional English words. So,  it is urgent for us to translate InjePro to Chinese as soon as possible or have text material to coordinate the teaching .
